“The Few and the Proud” – Luke 14:1-14

What is humility?  How do humble people look?  Do they tilt their head to the side?  Do they avoid self-satisfied grins?  How does one look humble?  In the parable of the chairs Jesus points out three symptoms of the proud, and by looking at their opposite we can find three symptoms of the humble.  Join us as we explore the insidious nature of pride and how God views the proud, and also see how much God loves and exalts the humble.    Sermon originally preached on July 18, 2010.

“Won’t You Be My Neighbor” – Luke 10:25-37

Who is my neighbor?  Isn’t that the wrong question to ask.  Jesus apparently thought so.  If the Bible teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves, then what is the motive behind the question, “Who is my neighbor?”  Isn’t the motive to determine who I HAVE to love.  Isn’t the motive to justify my lack of love or outright hate for “THOSE” people.  Join us as we take a look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan and see what question Jesus thought the man should have asked.   Sermon originally preached on July 4, 2010.
