I Quit . . . Quitting

“God’s Training Program” – Hebrews 12:4-11 – SERIES: Jesus is Better!

If God is love, then why do we suffer?  Is God trying to punish us?  Is he trying to crush our spirit?  How do the love of God and suffering fit together?   Join us as we take a frank look at Hebrews 12 and see that sometimes (not all the time) God uses suffering as a tool to cause growth in our life, because he sees us as his sons and daughters!  Sermon originally preached on November 30, 2014.

“Which Path?” – Joel 2:1-27

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”  We all know that this is the famous last line of a Robert Frost poem.    It asks an important question.  Which way are you going?  Are you going down the right path or the wrong one.  The prophet Joel lays out two pathways that the people of Judah could take, and he lets them know their future depending on the path.  Will they take the pathway of indifference and complacency which leads to discipline, or will they take the pathway of repentance that leads to restoration and reward?  Which pathway will WE take?  Sermon originally preached on October 30, 2011.

“Pride Goes Before a Fall” – Daniel 4

Nebuchadnezzar offers us one of the most arrogant phrases in the entire Bible in Daniel 4, “Is not this the great Babylon that I have built as MY royal residence by MY mighty power and for the glory of MY majesty.”  While these words were still on his lips, Nebby was humiliated by God.  Join us as we learn not only how God views pride, but WHY he humbles the proud.  Sermon originally preached on May 1, 2011.
