“Harvest Time” – John 4:1-52 – SERIES: MISSION

“Open your eyes and look at the fields.  They are ripe for the harvest” (John 4:35b).  Jesus doesn’t mince words when it comes to MISSION.  We are sent out into our families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities on a mission to make fully formed disciples of Christ, to live the gospel and to share the gospel.  Join us as we look at two biblical examples of evangelism as well as discuss seven sign posts that we can use to point people to their need for Jesus in a culture like ours.   Sermon originally preached on March 4, 2012.

“Moonlight” – Matthew 5:13-16 – SERIES: MISSION

“This little light of mine!  I’m going to let it shine.”  Most of us have sung that song since we were tiny, because it has a great message!  As Christians we are the light of the world.  Actually, we are the moonlight.  We reflect the Son!  Join us as we discuss how we can be salt and light in our world, pointing people to God by our attitudes.  We will follow Jesus in Mark as he tries to lead his disciples away from worldly thinking and toward kingdom thinking.  Sermon originally preached on February 26, 2012.

“Committed” – Luke 9:57-62 – SERIES: MISSION

“For I tell you the truth that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will by no means enter the kingdom of God!”  Those are some strong words.  How can we have a righteousness that surpasses that of the most religious people from Jesus’ day!!?  Join us as we explore commitment to Jesus and an inside out righteousness that doesn’t focus on outside in rule keeping, but on inside out kingdom righteousness that does all things for the glory of God.  Sermon originally preached on February 19, 2012.

“Grow the Kingdom” – Matthew 6:10 – SERIES: MISSION

What is our mission in this world?  What does God want us to do with our lives?  It is an important question that will guide how we live day in and day out.  If we want to figure out our mission in the world, we need to start with what God is doing in the world and specifically how the church fits into that plan.  Join us as we look at the theological grounding for our mission in the world, thinking through what God is doing in history and how we are to be a part of it!  Sermon originally preached on February 12, 2012.

“The Pearl of Great Price” – Matthew 13:31-35; 44-52

How is the Kingdom of God like yeast?  How is the kingdom of God like a dragnet?  How is the kingdom like a mustard seed, a treasure, a pearl, or a teacher who has new and old stuff in his basement?  Join us as we try to crack open these difficult little parables from Matthew 13.   Sermon originally preached on May 2, 2010.
